NBS EduWORLD Knowledge Stream: Guidelines on Implementation of Nature-Based Solutions Activities in Education for Starters

The guidelines have been designed to address the requirements of educators with little to no prior knowledge of nature-based solutions (NBS). They provide a step-by-step framework for understanding, implementing, and integrating NBS concepts into different education settings, covering formal, non-formal and even informal education. The guidelines incorporate hands-on activities, recommendations, and practical examples to facilitate educators in effectively conveying NBS-related content to their students. By considering the needs and limitations of the Knowledge Stream, the guidelines aim to build a solid foundation of NBS knowledge among educators and empower them to unlock the potential of NBS education.

The NBS EduWORLD Learning Units page offers a comprehensive resource for higher education, with 50 curated learning units designed to bridge the gap between Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) and higher education (UG, PG, PhD). These units cater to third-level, entrepreneurial, and vocational education, providing insights into NBS concepts, educational frameworks, and real-world case studies from NBS EduWORLD demonstrator sites. Ideal for students and educators, the platform offers flexible, editable resources that support NBS integration into academic and professional development.

NBS EduWORLD Living Labs Roadmap

This roadmap provides a comprehensive approach and structured path to embed environmental and social responsibility and active sustainability citizenship into school education through the integration of Nature-Based Solutions (NBS). It guides schools in reimagining infrastructure, curricula, teaching and learning, and community practices, inspired by nature and leveraging its power to solve real-world challenges. It aims to support the long-term strategy of mainstreaming NBS in education alongside the creation of vibrant, future-ready learning environments where sustainability is not just taught but is lived and practiced daily. Based on evidence and inspiring stories of implementation, it outlines objectives and key actions, highlights basic steps and lessons learnt, discusses opportunities and challenges, and explores the impact of setting up schools as NBS Living Labs for sustainability.

NBS EduWORLD Nature-based Solutions Education Flipbook

The aim of this document is to be a user-friendly NBS education resource with a major focus on place-based non-formal education, to inspire and bring valuable lessons coming from concrete NBS education initiatives to a broad audience. It brings an overview of NBS education resources, tools, success factors (enabling actor constellations and processes) employed in NBS EduSystems.

NBS EduWORLD Network Stream: Scenarios of Plausible Futures for NBS in Education

This document describes and analyses the different pathways for the transformation of the schools into NatureBased Solutions (NBS) Living Labs (LLs) through the Whole School Approach (WSA), providing a structured set of Scenarios of Plausible Futures for Nature-Based Solutions in Education that can act as a reference point for the project’s implementation with the large users’ communities. The scenarios record and highlight key drivers, uncertainties, baselines, constraints, and opportunities for nurturing NBS in education. They are not predictions but serve as a perspective to provoke 'what if' discussions, develop roadmaps, and delineate educational pathways. The overarching objective is to enhance our collective understanding of NBS in education and its future, supporting the vision of schools as NBS Living Labs and underlining the actions needed towards that vision.
