Task Force NBS Education

The Task Force ‘Nature-Based Solutions Education’ enables exchanges and streamlining among the EU Horizon Europe projects and networks involved in Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) education. Launched in January 2024, it is part of the family of NetworkNature NBS Cluster Task Forces and facilitated by Trinity College on behalf of the project NBS EduWORLD.

The Task Force ‘NBS Education’ will cultivate a community of nature-based solutions project representatives, educators and NBS experts to shape the future of nature education in Europe. By fostering a network of leading educators, providing resources, and advocating for policy change, the taskforce will transform education into a powerful force for positive environmental action.

The Task Force ‘NBS Education’ will explore opportunities to collaborate with like-minded organisations, institutions, and governmental bodies dedicated to advancing NBS in education across Europe.

Educational materials developed by Task Force members

The NBS Storytelling Toolkit

The Storytelling Toolkit by The Nature Of Cities (TNOC) is a learning resource for educators to teach nature-based solutions (NBS) through storytelling workshops. It promotes understanding of NbS and their link to global goals like the UN's SDGs. The toolkit enhances students' problem-solving, critical thinking, and environmental stewardship skills, while developing digital and visual literacy using Canva resources and comics. It can be integrated into existing NBS learning scenarios.

NBS 101 for Journalists

NBS 101 for Journalists Design Guide will help NBS Hubs, NBS scientists and practitioners, journalists and communicators and NGOs co-create a local language program to address the need for multi-disciplinary education and cross-sector in-person learning activities for public officials and the media. When journalists understand and communicate the attractiveness of environmental solutions that optimize nature and people simultaneously and minimize negative impacts, NBS will become the methodology of choice, enhancing community resilience.

Framework for Equitable Nature-based Education

The Framework for Equitable Nature-based Education presents a transformative model for integrating Nature-based Solutions (NbS) into education systems, with a strong emphasis on equity, inclusion, and sustainability.
