NBS EduWORLD Summer School: Paving the Way for Sustainable Education

From July 1 to July 5, the NBS EduWORLD Summer School, organised by Ellinogermaniki Agogi in Greece, brought together school principals and teachers renowned for their contributions to green and STEM projects. This event marked a significant step towards transforming schools into NBS Living Labs, employing the Whole School Approach to tackle climate change, promote sustainability, and nurture environmental stewardship.

During this intensive week, participants engaged in a variety of activities designed to inspire and educate. They discussed the challenges and opportunities associated with implementing green initiatives, explored practical examples and case studies, and visited a botanical park. At the park, they observed green walls and roofs, ponds, and rain gardens, learning about the benefits and practicalities of these interventions.

Armed with new knowledge and inspiration, the participants developed comprehensive NBS Living Labs Action Plans. These plans encompass several critical pillars, including strategic development, curriculum integration, innovative pedagogical approaches, community engagement, and collaboration with other schools. The plans also outline specific NBS interventions both within and outside school grounds, as well as professional development for school staff.

As we look forward to the upcoming school year, the excitement is palpable. The seeds planted during the NBS EduWORLD Summer School are set to grow into thriving initiatives, driving sustainable education and fostering a greener future.
