Learningscenario

Tackling Natural and Climate Hazards with NBS

This Learning Scenario introduces students to the concept of Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) as a way to mitigate and adapt to natural and climate hazards such as floods, landslides, and extreme weather events. Through interactive activities, students will explore how ecosystems like wetlands, forests, and mangroves can act as natural shields against hazards. By the end of the lesson, students will design their own NBS project to protect a hypothetical community from a specific hazard.

The European Nature Protection Toolkit

Besides being beautiful, Europe’s nature is of great importance on so many levels to all of us and this Toolkit will help your students understand why. The Impact of Climate Change on Marine Ecosystem

This Learning Scenario explores the impact of rising sea water temperatures on ocean ecosystems, linking the issue to global warming through data analysis and real-world news. Students examine the correlation between global temperature rise and oceanic changes, analyzing data on sea water temperature and oxygen levels. Emphasizing the importance of reducing carbon emissions, the scenario encourages students to calculate their individual impact and propose solutions. As a hands-on component, they design prototypes related to renewable energy sources, fostering awareness and innovation in addressing climate challenges.
